Priorities
Our Public Understanding initiative
focuses grants on three priority areas:
- Educating communities on student-centered approaches to learning, what they are and why they are critical.
-
Transforming public perception of how students learn and why it must change.
-

Current Activities
Field Building
We’re working in collaboration with
other education funders to develop a
common narrative that will help advance
each organization’s work and amplify our
shared voice for improving education.
Public Awareness
We’re working to increase public
awareness of how student-centered
approaches can help boost achievement
for all learners and lead to
post-secondary learning success.
Communications Planning
We’re supporting our district grantees
in publicly communicating successes in
implementing student-centered
approaches.
Work to
Date
The FrameWorks Institute
To promote a common language around
student-centered approaches that promote
deeper learning, we partnered with the
FrameWorks Institute. By unifying
messages and providing recommendations
to grantees, the Foundation, along with
others involved in the project, hope to
promote a more vibrant discussion of how
our education system can respond to the
demands of the future.
Learning 2025
We partnered with KnowledgeWorks, a
foundation working to create
collaborative environments to foster
innovative, student-centered approaches,
to convene a workshop that expanded
participants’ thinking about the future
of learning.
