Nellie Mae Education Foundation President and CEO Appointed by Governor Patrick to Co-Chair MCAS and Assessments Subcommittee

Nicholas C. Donohue, President and CEO of the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, was appointed by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick to co-chair the MCAS and Assessments subcommittee of the Commonwealth Readiness Project Leadership Council. He will chair the subcommittee with Paul Reville, Chair of the Board of Education and President of the Rennie Center for Education Research and Policy.

The Readiness Project was formed to create a plan to guide Massachusetts through the next phase of public school education reform. The plan includes working with children before kindergarten and through grade 12 and higher education. It also would extend to workforce development and lifelong learning.

Mr. Donohue said, “The Project presents important opportunity for the Commonwealth to not only examine public education broadly, but to address parts of that system that call for improvement. The end goal is to prepare more Massachusetts students — especially those from underserved families — for academic success. This work is very much in keeping with the Foundation’s focus on work and investments that dramatically improve education outcomes for New England’s learners. I am eager to join my colleagues on the subcommittee in this challenge.”
